Forget-Me-Not—Original Oil Painting of a Girl in a Flower Wreath | Elena Gaevskaya

 Painting Tales: Forget-Me-Not

In June, the meadows around Ontario look like this painting—full of forget-me-nots, daisies, and cornflowers. I wanted to capture that moment when summer feels endless.

This girl is not a specific portrait. She is a memory of youth. I painted her looking back over her shoulder, with sunlight catching the wildflower wreath—blue forget-me-nots for true memory, red and white daisies for innocence.

I worked in soft greens and luminous skin tones, with visible impasto in the flowers so you can feel the meadow. The light spots on her forehead are sunlight filtering through leaves. It's about the feeling of being 17 in a field, with no hurry.

For a Canadian home, this painting brings light in winter and calm in summer. It is an original oil, one of a kind, not a print.
